“To all the girls who think they’re fat because they aren’t a size zero, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who is ugly.” – Marilyn Monroe
What is beauty?
Do we we see beauty differently? How do our biases influence our perception of beauty? I just had this conversation earlier this evening with a group of image consultants. This subject was also discussed in my recent Association of Image Consultants International Global Conference.
How does society really define beauty?
What makes someone beautiful?
The history and definition
Beauty was originally centered around the soul. The magic is truly in the uniqueness of us all. We all have our own definition of beauty. I have started to ask all of my clients to define what beauty is to them. Think about what your definition is.
It is hard not to let our clothing size bother us. Believe me, I have been there many times and that little voice still tries to speak to me. I have been a size 10 and I have been a size 22 and everything in between. I really try to focus on how I feel at a size – my 2 deciding factors: 1) do I feel confident, 2) do I have energy. If the answer is no, then I try to think about why and what change would make it a yes.
Today, I chose to step into the backyard for a change of scenery for my OOTD photos. Just like anything in life, a change in scenery — or perspective — is good for us all.
